Clay is a super charged ingredient when it comes to skincare. Clay acts as an absorbing product, meaning that it draws the badness and impurities out from your skin. Marry a clay with activated charcoal and it is a match made in skin heaven for acne prone and oily skin.
Clay acts to remove impurities from your skin. Activated charcoal also absorbs chemicals and heavy metals from your skin. They both attract those nasty impurities like magnets. Activated charcoal products have gained a lot of attention in the past few years for being a cult skin ingredient for oilier skin types. If you suffer from very oily or acne prone skin you can use this mask weekly and begin including other charcoal products daily to help control your oil and acne.
- 1 tsp of activated charcoal
- 1 tsp Bentonite Clay
- 1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 drop of lavender oil (optional)
Equipment required:
- 1 glass bowl
- 1 heat proof spatula or wooden spoon
- 1 face mask brush
- Make up cleaning sponge or muslin to remove
To Make:
- Mix all the activated charcoal and bentonite clay together.
- Add the apple cider vinegar and stir.
- Apply to a cleansed face for up to 10 minutes, but make sure to remove before it dries.
- Remove using a reusable make up cleaning sponge or musil and warm water
- Finish with a toner, serum and moisturiser.
Activated charcoal will not stain your skin, but it may stain your clothes or worktop, so when you make it please keep in your bowl and do not let it rest on your worktops.
