The VCTC Level 2 Diploma in woman’s hairdressing is designed for the learner to enhance all practical skills needed to perform salon services. It is a vital qualification for any learner who is looking for a career as a junior hairdresser/stylist and may also wish to progress on to furthering their knowledge within the industry or becoming self employed in the future. The course provides all necessary skills involved in the day to day running of a hairdressing salon and preparing the learner for a career as a hairdresser/stylist. 

Course Layout – Important 

This Level 2 Diploma in Womans Hairdressing has been designed with you, the learner in mind. The course unit (listed below) can be taken all together in one go or it can be split up over a period of time to allow you to work in a salon whilst completing your training.

Mandatory units 

  • Follow Health and Safety practices within the salon
  • Working in the Hair industry
  • Client Consultation for hair services
  • Shampooing and Conditioning the hair and scalp
  • Colour and Lighten hair
  • Cutting Women’s hair
  • The Art of Dressing hair

Optional units

  • Perm and neutralise hair
  • Display stock and promote sales in the salon
  • Promote products and services to clients in the salon
  • Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
  • Provide scalp massage services
  • Plaiting and twisting hair
  • Salon Reception duties
  • The art of colouring hair
  • Style and finish African type hair

What do I need for this course?

A full hairdressing kit is required in order to complete this course, which is available from Sculpt, at an additional cost.  

Learners will also be required to wear a black hairdressing tunic, black trousers and black shoes while attending the course, in accordance with industry standards.

This course is ideal for anyone who wishes to gain a career within the hairdressing industry. There are many career opportunities as a senior hairdresser/stylist, which include:

The individual units of this course are idea for existing hairdressers that need to complete units or gain qualifications or for any individual that wishes to learn individual disciplines of the art of hair dressing/ styling. 

About the tutor

Denise Mc Crory

Denise has worked within the hairdressing industry for over 11 years, as well as currently working as a senior stylist; she has been previously self employed and ran a very successful hairdressing salon for 3 years. Teaching is where her passion lies and Denise gained great experience in the teaching end of the industry from encouraging and training juniors within the salon to tutor positions within various academies in the North West who were involve in recruitment and training. Denise feels that with many years within the business I have great knowledge and experience to share with learners, her passion to show learners how to do things until they grasp techniques and her vast hair knowledge sets her apart from other trainers. Denise is a qualified VTCT Assessor and is working part time toward further and higher qualifications so she can bring everything that she has to learners.
